 Travel, Language, & More

I aspire to visit all 50 U.S. states and over a dozen countries. So far, I've been to 28 / 50 U.S. states and 3 countries. I am learning Spanish (A2-B1) and Hindi (Beginner) in my free time. One day, I hope to use my language skills to learn more about Spanish- and Hindi-speaking countries in my travels.

My favorite part about travel is trying regional foods, experiencing the local culture, and going to places of historical interest.  Whenever possible, I try to go to historical libraries in these locations because I am an amateur genealogist. I collect postcards to document my travels.

Letterwriting - Calligraphy & Wax Sealing

I'm a strong believer in the power of handwritten thank you notes!

In my spare time, I practice calligraphy. At the beginning of 2021, I purchased a wax seal kit. Now, I send letters of thanks, encouragement, and congratulations to friends, family, and colleagues.

Needle Crafts

Crocheting

My grandma and great aunt taught me the basics of crocheting when I was in 3rd grade. Over the years, I've crocheted scarves, afghans, blankets, and bags. Here are a few samples of my work.

Knitting

I taught myself to knit during COVID. I do machine knitting, loom knitting (as pictured to the right), and traditional knitting. I have made hats and scarves.

Embroidery

I've taken a few embroidery classes at Penn State. Here is one of my works in progress. This combines my love of language learning, Penn State, and needlecraft. The Nittany Lion was free-hand drawn by me.
